Did You Know Burnout Behaves Like Trauma?

WHAT? Burnout behaves like trauma?

Yes, you heard that right! Burnout does behave like trauma (read on for more, you don’t have to take my word for it!) . 

  • That’s why it is a little tricky to beat it. 
  • And also why it tends to come back from a subsequent insulting event. 

Which means not only is it hard to beat burnout off the bat, but it tends to recur in someone who has recovered from it….. unless we are PREPARED.

WHY?

Because trauma and burnout share many things in common: the layers, the sequence of emotional injury, and as it worsens, even certain physical, neurological and endocrine changes.

To top it all, it plays on our core psychological wounds as well. 

HOW?

  1. Core wounding and limiting beliefs create negative thinking loops – this is the ‘THOUGHT PATTERN’ part of the process…. our thoughts and self-talk that hold us back from thriving, sabotaging us MENTALLY/INTELLECTUALLY.
  2. These thought patterns, especially when triggered by high work-life demands, make us ‘feel’ restricted…. now it is affecting us EMOTIONALLY. More than likely previous emotional insults (core wounding) had led to those harmful ‘thought patterns’ which now take on a new emotional layer (if not more with repeated events), and may lead to emotional exhaustion. 
  3. Negative emotions create a stress scenario, and repeated over time, lead to endocrine disruption…now affecting us NEUROHORMONALLY. 
  4. Both emotional exhaustion and neuroendocrine disruption can lead to “fatigue” and later on the other physiologic and intellectual aspects of burnout. In energy teams, we are affected “ENERGETICALLY”, affecting our communication, sense of safety, leading to anxiety/ depression/ feeling disconnected etc.  
  5. Ultimately we lose touch with the real us inside. In energetic terms, it may be called SOUL LOSS…in other words, we are being disconnected from the core of who we are, especially the soul or the living essence within us. “I am just not who I used to be.”  No it’s not just a woo-woo term, there is a scientific basis to it, you may find it in my free ebook and in my course as well.
