How Do You Make Your Dreams Come True While Parenting? Or working full time or part time?
Especially if your dream means something outside of the work you are doing now…
Especially if you face a roadblock on your well thought out plan?
I had a touching moment with my son recently. Interestingly, it came with some precious insights into my business strategy as well.
We had drive-through dinner that day. As we were sitting in the car having our food, Ary wanted me to look at some YouTube videos he was watching.
I told him, “I have some things on my mind, Ary. I may not be able to focus.”
“What do you mean?” Ary asked with a genuinely concerned look on his face.
“I have a few things regarding my business on my mind. I have to sort through them: and some things I have to find a way to do and some things I may not do after all.”
“Is this your dream? Do you really want it? Then don’t give up!,” Ary said with a very serious look on his face.
Quickly adding, “Unless you’re feeling really bad and you want to hold back for sometime. And then you can come back to it.” Another way to do it too if I get stuck!
Amazed at his response, I said, “Wow! That’s impressive. How did you know how to say that?”
And he said, biting into his sandwich, “I learned 50% of this from you, 49% from Dhar Mann videos and 1% from all other YouTube videos.”
I may leave a review for Dhar Mann for positively influencing my 9 year old.
So let me ask you Beautiful, what is your biggest dream?
If you had a dream you really wanted to follow and sometimes things may come up stalling your current plan…. it may leave you in doubt if your dream is worth pursuing. It may be easy to feel you are not doing what you are supposed to, that you are off track somewhere.
It may even make you rush back to your comfort zone: the place of safety where you were before even embarking on this dream.
How do we make sense of it? You did see something of value there, but now how come it doesn’t seem as tangible?
What if I told you it just means there is something attractive in it, and maybe it’s time to gain some more clarity around it.
Let’s ask ourselves a few more questions to get a good feel:
- Is this your dream? Meaning what is your WHY behind that dream? WHY did you start dreaming this in the first place? WHAT difference would it make if you followed this dream?
- Do you REALLY want it? Do you REALLY want your dream to come true? Like on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is you would move the moon to get it, where are you?
I would love to know your experience with this exercise. Please reply in the comments below.
